Arequipa

Recently declared a World Heritage Site and famed for its white-stone buildings, historic churches and cathedral, colonial Arequipa is located in a beautiful valley surrounded by snow-capped volcanoes. Santa Catalina Convent is a walled citadel of more than 20,000 square metres which over four centuries has served as the home of several generations of cloistered nuns.
