Tortuguero National ParkThe most popular location is Tortuguero in the north, a wildlife-rich, lowland rainforest of canals and waterways explored by foot and boat. The park is certainly one of the areas where wildlife is easily seen, including sloths, river turtles and capuchin and spider monkeys. Green and hawksbill turtles nest on the beaches from June to September, while leatherbacks and loggerheads come ashore from March to May. One cannot swim off the beaches since there are dangerous rip tides.
