A holiday for the active traveller with an interest in trekking and wildlife. Spend 4 nights deep inside the Tambopata National Reserve, including 2 nights at a rustic lodge close to the world’s largest macaw clay lick. Then enjoy breathtaking Andean scenery as you hike the famous Inca Trail to the magnificent Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.

 Day 
  1. (MON or FRI): Depart London.
  2. Arrive Lima and fly to Puerto Maldonado. Board motorised canoe. Travel upriver to lodge. O/n Refugio Amazonas, FB.
  3. Morning guided activities. Afternoon boat transfer to lodge. O/n Tambopata Research Centre, FB.
  4. Visit macaw clay lick and guided activities. O/n Tambopata Research Centre, FB.
  5. Boat transfer to lodge. Afternoon activities. O/n Refugio Amazonas, FB.
  6. Boat transfer to Puerto Maldonado. Fly to Cusco and transfer to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. O/n Sol y Luna Hotel, BB.
  7. Hike from Moray to the Sacred Valley via the Maras salt pans then visit Ollantaytambo. O/n Sol y Luna Hotel, BB.
  8. Drive to trail head and begin the Inca Trail. Hike to Huayllabamba. O/n Camping, FB.
  9. Hike to Pacayamayo.  O/n Camping, FB.
  10. Hike to Winay Wayna. O/n Camping, FB.
  11. Arrive Machu Picchu and explore with guide. O/n Inkaterra Machu Picchu, FB.
  12. Optional second visit to Machu Picchu. Afternoon train to Cusco. Picoaga Hotel, BB.
  13. Guided tour of Cusco and surrounding Inca sites. Afternoon at leisure. Picoaga Hotel, BB.
  14. Afternoon fly to Lima and connect with international flight.
  15. Arrive London Heathrow.
