Namibia Walking HolidayTo immerse into the Namibian natural world by exploring on foot is an unforgettable experience. This exceptional self-drive itinerary includes hiking in the Otavi and Erongo Mountains, amongst the towering dunes at Sossusvlei and the beautiful wilderness of the southern NamibRand Nature Reserve, with the chance to sleep under the stars - an indescribably magical experience. The opportunity to learn in depth about all aspects of nature are enhanced by outstanding walking guides and various animal species will be encountered on foot.  Safari in Etosha National Park for big cats, elephants, rhinos and other large game will take place from the safety of your vehicle!  A coastal fix is also provided in the shape of Swakopmund - a fun and friendly town with plentiful marine life offshore. This itinerary comes highly recommended for active people who want an in-depth feel for their environment. 

 Day 
  1. Depart London.
  2. Arrive Windhoek, Namibia.  Met and tfr to the centre of Windhoek. Briefing and information and car hire delivered. O/n Rivendell Guest House, BB.
  3. Self-drive to Mundulea Nature Reserve in the Otavi Mountains. Meet your expert guide. Explore this beautiful area, it's flora and flora. O/n Mundulea Bush Camp, FB.
  4. Day for guided hiking in Mundulea Nature Reserve. Your guide is one of the best in Namibia and his interpretation of the bush will reward you with fascinating insights into the area's natural history. O/n Mundulea Bush Camp, FB.
  5. Another day of guided hiking in Mundulea Nature Reserve. O/n Mundulea Bush Camp, FB.
  6. Say farewell and drive to eastern Etosha National Park. Self drive safari in Etosha if time allows, or relax in the lovely surroundings at the lodge. O/n Onguma Bush Camp, HB.
  7. Today, take a leisurely drive westwards through Etosha National Park, game viewing as you go. Arrive at Okaukeujo. Optional night time safari for nocturnal animals in an open safari vehicle or simply enjoy animals coming to you at the camp's famous waterhole. O/n Okaukuejo (Waterhole Chalet), HB.
  8. Head south to the Erongo Mountains. Walk amongst the granite rocks and weird and wonderful flora. O/n Erongo Wilderness Lodge, FB.
  9. Day to explore the Erongo Mountains, famed for its lovely scenery, special bird life and ancient rock paintings. O/n Erongo Wilderness Lodge, FB.
  10. Drive to Swakopmund. Time to explore this seaside town and arrange tomorrow's activities. O/n Cornerstone Guesthouse, BB.
  11. Day at leisure in Swakopmund. Optional excursions include kayaking or a luxury catamaran cruise from Walvis Bay in search of dolphins, seals and other marine wildlife, Living Desert Tour, a scenic flight over the extraordinary Namb Great Dune Sea and coast with shipwrecks and abandoned diamond mines (highly recommended), adventure activities, museum and more.   12. Drive south to your lodge next to the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Optional excursions such as horse riding, guided walks. O/n Desert Homestead, HB.
  13. Self-drive to Sesriem and into the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Take a stunning walk or (optional) take the shuttle to Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei. Return to Sesriem and visit the Sesriem Canyon. Then drive further south to the southern NamibRand. introduction and walk to first camp on the Tok Tokkie Trail. O/n Stretcher Bed Under the Stars, FB.
  14. Day of walking in the stunning NamibRand with Tok Tokkie Trails. O/n Stretcher Bed Under the Stars, FB.
  15. Final day of wallking in the NamibRand.  Then drive to the lodge, situated close to the dramatic Gamsberg Pass at the foot of the Gamsberg Mountain. There are plenty of walking and hiking trails on the property. Optional sundowner drive to celebrate your final night in Namibia. O/n Corona Guestfarm, BB.
  16. Self-drive over the scenic Khomas Hochland back to Windhoek. Return your hire vehicle. Depart Namibia.
  17. Arrive London.
