THE UNUSUAL ANIMALS OF INDIA’S WILD WEST

Tailor Made Sample Itinerary No.8

Western India Wildlife Tour

Mahatma Gandhi’s home state of Gujarat, in India’s central west, boasts fascinating architecture, a wide variety of habitats, abundant birdlife and a plethora of unusual animals. Harrier, jungle cat and the elegant blackbuck inhabit the grasslands of Velavadar; many leopard and the last Asiatic lions live in the forests of Gir; the mangroves and coral reefs of the Gulf of Kutch’s Marine National Park give sanctuary to turtles and dugong; the Indian wolf prowls in the Neliya grasslands; and the houbara bustard, imperial eagle and herds of Asiatic wild ass can be found in Dasada, the largest wildlife sanctuary in India. With only two domestic flights and a relatively small geographical area to traverse, this tour will suit those enthusiasts looking for unusual species to discover chiefly using overland transport.
