Amazon and Galapagos

 

This compact yet varied itinerary explores some of the principal highlights of the Ecuadorian mainland. Explore bustling Otavalo market with its colourful selection of handicrafts, and nearby craft towns. Then fly to the Napo region of the Ecuadorian Amazon for three nights and discover the abundant flora and fauna of one of the world's most biodiverse regions. After returning to Quito travel south along Ecuador's famed Avenue of the Volcanoes, exploring Cotopaxi National Park, an enthralling train ride on the Devil's Nose switchbacks, and Ecuador's most famous Inca site at Ingapirca. Arriving in Cuenca, spend two nights in this beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Trust Site. The itinerary ends with an overland transfer to Guayaquil, visiting El Cajas National Park en route.

 

 Day 
  1. Depart London.  Fly via Madrid to Quito.  Met and tfr to hotel.  O/n Patio Andaluz, BB.
  2. Tfr to Otavalo for guided tour of market and surrounding craft towns. O/n Patio Andaluz, BB.
  3. Fly to Coca.  Tfr to lodge. O/n Napo Wildlife Centre, FB.
  4. Day for various guided excursions. O/n Napo Wildlife Centre, FB.
  5. Day for various guided excursions. O/n Napo Wildlife Centre, FB.
  6. Fly back to Quito and tfr to Cotopaxi.  O/n Hacienda Hato Verde, HB.
  7. Guided visit of Cotopaxi National Park. O/n Hacienda Hato Verde, HB.
  8. Tfr to Alausi for Devil's Nose train ride. Continue to Cuenca visiting Ingapirca en route. O/n Santa Lucia Hotel, BB.
  9. Guided city tour. Afternoon free. O/n Santa Lucia Hotel, BB.
  10. Transfer to Guayaquil visiting Cajas National Park en route. O/n Grand Hotel, BB.
  11. Guided city tour. Evening fly via Madrid to London.
  12. Arrive London.
